Robotics Workshop Volunteer Expression of Interest (EOI)

After the successful launch of Robotics Gear at the Knowledge Day Event, the Ambedkarite Buddhist Community (ABC) is excited to announce a “Robotic Workshop” aimed at sparking interest in the ever-evolving field of robotics among young children.

About the workshop: This is a two-hour activity session where participants will learn how to program and work with robots using LEGO Mindstorms. The workshop is most suitable for children aged 10-15 years. Participants will work in pairs to complete various challenges.

We are looking for volunteers to help deliver the session. And few volunteers to give us helping hands during the workshop. Please note, a “train the trainer” session will be conducted by our expert trainer.

Train the Trainer Session:

Objective: To equip volunteers with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively deliver robotics workshops to children.
Duration: 3 hours
Content:

Introduction to LEGO Mindstorms: Understanding the components and basic functionalities.
Programming Basics: Learning how to program the robots using the LEGO Mindstorms software.
Workshop Structure: Overview of the workshop flow, including key activities and challenges.
Teaching Techniques: Best practices for engaging and instructing young learners.
Hands-On Practice: Volunteers will get the opportunity to practice delivering parts of the workshop.
Q&A Session: Addressing any questions or concerns volunteers may have.

Outcome: By the end of the session, volunteers will be confident and prepared to lead the robotics workshops for children.

Terms & Conditions:

Volunteers who wish to be trainers for delivering robotics workshops must attend the “Train the Trainer” session/workshop before conducting any actual robotics workshop sessions with children.
Age Requirement: All volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
Your details will be used solely for the Robotics workshop and will not be passed on to any other sources.
Ambedkarite Buddhist Community (ABC) reserves the right to make photographic and/or visual recordings of all workshops for use in our archives and community bulletin – please notify us if you DO NOT want your child to be included in our photos.
Ambedkarite Buddhist Community (ABC) does not accept any responsibility for any personal property left at the premises during the workshop; nor does it accept liability for any personal injury, unless such an injury is caused through negligence on the part of an ABC workshop facilitator.
